The WHY

Put simply, food is easy to use and lets training progress quickly.  Treats are a positive consequence for doing something right.  When your dog's behavior earns them a positive consequence, they are likely to repeat that behavior.  Food has the power to enhance your dog’s ability to learn, but also to help your dog overcome fear or anxiety by raising the levels of dopamine in the brain and stimulating the desire to seek or move towards the food reward.  A dog's dopamine is a neurotransmitter that plays a huge role in reward-driven learning and helps regulate movement and emotional responses.
